They are Coming…You will Know

Writer: Nadia MorrisNadia Morris

“Courageous men from the Gadites came over to David in the stronghold in the wilderness, men trained for war, who could handle shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and who were swift as gazelles on the mountains.”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12‬:‭8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Then some of the men of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David. David went out to meet them and said to them, “If you have come peacefully to me to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no violence or wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on [what you are doing] and punish [you].” Then the [Holy] Spirit came on Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said, “We are yours, O David, And with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace be to you, And peace be to him who helps you; For your God helps you.” Then David accepted and received them and made them officers of his troops.”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I don’t know about you but the story of David’s life always intrigued me. When you read his story chronologically by the Bible books you get a greater appreciation of how and why certain Psalms were written.

The main focus today is when you have been pushed into a cave or stronghold as the amplified version of the Bible puts it. People resort to retreating and pulling away like in David’s case when they know that they are in danger. Saul pursued David relentlessly. He opted to hide in order to save his life. Spiritually many of us are in some type of cave because of the mounting warfare we face. Elijah ran to a cave when Jezebel determined he should die.

The cave is a lonely place especially when you have not been able to amass a tribe of people standing with you. One thing that was clear in the scriptures highlighted is that when God is with you, the right people you need will always find you. The issue is we have become so used to others breaching our confidence that there is a block towards those who have come to help. This does not negate the fact that God is still sending the right people. He is. However, he expects us like David to ask the right question. Are you for me? If you do not come in peace may the Holy Spirit deal with you. 😧 The problem always arises when we are afraid to scrutinize the people who are coming. We do not examine, seek God to aid in discerning the persons’ purpose in our lives. What is their role? Were they sent by God? How long will this last, is it for a season or a lifetime? Are they coming with pure intentions?

Some of us have a certain type of calling and need to be fortified. Some persons may not understand that by being associated with you, they must be at a certain level spiritually. The enemy’s primary goal is when you’re called to simply take you out, therefore he starts with those around you to weaken and penetrate. Hence, you must view relationships and connections carefully. Many will run because they will undoubtedly be attacked because the enemy wants to leave you open and uncovered. When you look at it from this perspective, you can then assess and evaluate those who are sent.

Just like David, the scriptures revealed that mighty men skilled at war found him. So it shall be for you. God is about to send mighty ones skilled at war to stand with you. Not the ones who fall off at the slightest indication that an actual war is happening. Not the ones who only want to be connected to you based on the trajectory of your life. Not the ones seeking proximity to study ways in which to wage war against you. Not the ones sent and played by the enemy. Not those ones. God is indeed sending a whole army. Be positioned to assess and understand who those people are. May your discernment be increased in this season. May you never have to cry to God about the continuous rejection of those who are temporary. They must make way for the ones who are coming to stay. God says this time YOU WILL KNOW without a doubt.
