Taking Stock - to carefully think about something in order to make a decision about what to do next

Isaiah 43:18 - Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

Look back at 2024. Were there moments that brought you to your face and not just your knees? You are not alone if you feel like the burdens you have been carrying are still weighing on you. It is good to acknowledge where you are and the shortcomings.

FOR THOSE WEARY AND FEELING DISCONNECTED

The disappointment in life, people and circumstances eroded your self-esteem and you are left wondering if you can rebound. Dealing with heart issues because some things left a bitter taste in your mouth. It is good to acknowledge that all you’re faced with is confusion and uncertainty to move in 2025. You really don’t see the point because God became silent and seemingly left you treading in the deep. You literally feel that after seeing God move mountains and coming through, He left you in the middle of nowhere. You are starting to question whether the blessing was really necessary. You see glimpses of Him but it is not like what you’re used to.

FOR THOSE BARELY HANGING ON TO THE UNFULFILLED PROMISES

The appointed time? Maybe it missed you? You see everyone else getting their breakthroughs but now struggle to believe.  Often times we simply need to remember the promise and God can never lie. Our stance should not be an obsession with the vision but more a free fall into God while living in the present moment. I’ve heard Sinach’s story of getting married after 40. She said she was content in her present state of singleness, living in purpose where she instead focused on carrying out the mandate. Sometimes we think we will jump from the current state to the promise but God needs to process us and do so comprehensively. The unprocessed places in us will be detrimental if we walked into our promise in the current state. How can we thrust into leadership when we don’t know how to manage our emotions, easily triggered and unable to lead ourselves? Can God trust us with more financially when we are impulsive and lack good stewardship of the little we currently have? Is there a budget, do you give cheerfully, can you say no and do without in order to fulfill other requests from God?

Today’s focus is to take stock literally of where you are (journal prompts)

  • Assess how your heart is feeling? Are you angry, upset and bitter based on what has happened to you over a period of time?

  • Are you angry with God? Why?

  • What are the burdens weighing you down that is hindering you from lifting off and going higher?

  • What do you need to get rid of to simply stand again?
