Week 9 | The Weight of Being Chosen
Dear Friend,
We often pray for greater influence.
We ask God to enlarge our territory, increase our impact, expand our businesses, elevate our careers, and open doors that no one can shut.
Those are beautiful prayers.
But have you ever noticed that we rarely pray for the capacity to carry what we're asking God to give us?
Many women long for the platform but underestimate the weight that comes with it.
Influence is a gift.
Leadership is a privilege.
But both come with responsibility.
The higher God elevates you, the greater your stewardship must become.
That truth has become increasingly real in my own life.
There are moments when people see the platform but not the preparation.
They celebrate the title but don't see the countless decisions, sacrifices, and quiet moments of dependence on God that made it possible.
Leadership is rarely as glamorous as it appears.
It is often lonely.
It is costly.
It requires wisdom when emotions would rather react.
It requires courage when fear whispers, "Play it safe."
It requires humility when recognition tempts you to believe the applause belongs to you.
And above all, it requires complete dependence on God.
Chosen Doesn't Mean Easy
One of the greatest misconceptions in the Body of Christ is that being chosen means life becomes easier.
Scripture tells a different story.
Moses was chosen—and carried the complaints of an entire nation.
Esther was chosen—and risked her life for her people.
Nehemiah was chosen—and rebuilt while facing constant opposition.
Deborah was chosen—and led a nation during a time of instability.
Jesus Himself was chosen for the greatest assignment in history—and it led Him to the cross before the resurrection.
Being chosen is not evidence of an easier path.
It is evidence of a greater assignment.
Influence Is More Than Visibility
Our culture often defines influence by numbers.
Followers.
Subscribers.
Speaking invitations.
Awards.
But Kingdom influence begins much deeper.
Influence is the ability to steward what God has entrusted to you in a way that reflects His character.
Sometimes your greatest influence isn't on a stage.
It's in your home.
It's in the boardroom.
It's in how you lead your team.
It's in the way you respond when you're misunderstood.
It's in how you speak about people who aren't in the room.
It's in choosing integrity when compromise would be easier.
Never underestimate the influence of quiet faithfulness.
The Invisible Weight Leaders Carry
There is something people don't often talk about.
Leadership carries emotional weight.
As leaders, we celebrate with people while quietly carrying our own disappointments.
We encourage others while wrestling with unanswered questions.
We make difficult decisions that not everyone will understand.
Sometimes we have to choose what is right over what is popular.
Sometimes we carry the burden of vision before anyone else can see it.
That is why leadership cannot be sustained by talent alone.
It must be sustained by intimacy with God.
If your identity is rooted in applause, criticism will crush you.
If your identity is rooted in Christ, neither applause nor criticism will define you.
The Capacity Question
Rather than asking,
"God, when will You promote me?"
Perhaps we should ask,
"God, am I becoming the woman who can carry what I'm asking You to entrust to me?"
Promotion isn't only about receiving more responsibility.
It's about becoming more emotionally healthy.
More spiritually mature.
More discerning.
More compassionate.
More disciplined.
God doesn't simply prepare opportunities.
He prepares people.
Bloom Challenge
This week, choose one responsibility you've been viewing as a burden.
Instead of asking, "Why do I have to carry this?"
Ask,
"Lord, what are You developing in me through this responsibility?"

One of the things I love most about Beauty for Ashes is that it brings together women from different backgrounds, professions, and seasons of life who all share one desire—to become everything God has called them to be.
This year's theme, Time to Bloom: Alignment & Ascension, reminds us that God never elevates us simply for recognition.
He elevates us so we can serve with greater wisdom, compassion, and purpose.
